About Us

Inspired by my love of beautiful interiors, and the desire to share this with others, I decided to set up my homeware company, Hens and Hollyhocks. Nestled in the rolling countryside of North Yorkshire, we are a family run business with a passion for creating inspiring tablescapes.

The name of the company, Hens and Hollyhocks, came about through the love of my dear brood of bantam hens, along with my admiration of the hollyhock flower. Each one is pretty and evoke feelings of joy, just like most of the items you’ll find here.

As well as sourcing high quality products from around the world, we believe in supporting communities. Ethical trading is extremely important to us, which is why many of our items have been made by artisans, such as our hand painted ceramics, traditional hand block printed tablecloths, hand woven napkin rings and table mats using natural fibres. This helps to provide a fair and sustainable income for the men and women that make these beautiful pieces. The quality and care that goes into these items mean they can be kept and passed down through generations to come. Not only have I collaborated in the design of some of these items, but I personally curate the tablescapes we showcase on the website and our social media.

Everyone’s home is special to them, which is why I believe it’s important to surround ourselves with objects that make us feel happy and inspired. Personally, I love my home to feel cosy, comfortable and inviting. Having lived all over the world, I have always made it a priority to create a home filled with beauty, creating a sanctuary to retreat to at the end of the day. One of my favourite things to do is to create stunning tablescapes, layering the table with pretty linens, ceramics, glasses, flowers and candles. Then cooking up something delicious to enjoy around the table with family and friends. There’s nothing I love more than seeing the joy a beautifully curated tablescape brings to others. Hopefully I can inspire you to do the same.
